Advent Opportunities

An Advent-zine! – for Wednesday evening formation classes on Zoom at 6pm.
Watch your mailbox for the Grace Advent mailing, arriving soon! Inside, you’ll find a booklet to guide you through the season of ADVENT (along with an art sticker, because stickers are fun!). This booklet will help you explore all four Advent Sunday Gospel lessons and will also play a key role in our Wednesday evening Advent formation classes. If you’re not on the Grace mailing list, swing by the church office to pick up a copy (and drop off your address so we can include you in future mailings!).

Advent Study on the Four Sundays of Advent at 9am – 9:50am in the Parish Hall
For those who identify as women, all are invited to An Advent Study Group at Grace between services on the 4 Sundays of Advent: November 27; December 4; December 11; and December 18. The small study group will be reading “Joy of Every Longing Heart”. For questions, contact Gwen Harvey.
Here is the link to buy the book.

Advent Project with our Companion Parish, Trinity Cathedral, Monrovia, Liberia
Advent “Dollar A Day” Offering
Sunday, November 27 is the first Sunday of Advent. You will receive a small box after worship. Inside is a note explaining the purpose of our Advent offering. We would like to renew our partnership with our companion parish, Trinity Cathedral in Monrovia, Liberia. We want to help replace one of the stained-glass windows destroyed during the years of war in Liberia. So put a dollar a day—or more—in your box each day of Advent. You can also write a check to Grace Memorial with a note that it is for the stained-glass window fund.
Our next project will be to identify specific areas of need where we can lend support. We will work with the Cathedral and Diocese and other partners to identify possible projects. Over 50% of Liberians live in poverty. It is one of the most dangerous countries for women and children. Episcopal Relief and Development works with other partners to address this issue. Doctors Without Borders is working this year with a measles outbreak, leprosy, epilepsy, malnutrition, mental health and other issues.
If you would be interested in helping to identify a specific project to support and/or brainstorming creative ways to fund the project, please speak to Charles or Cecilia McGee or to me, Judith Meckling (610-659-8812). Our support for our brothers and sisters in Liberia can make a big difference in their lives.
