Every Friday at Grace, Grace Memorial and Westminster Presbyterian Church volunteers (alternating each Friday) host the Friday Feast, a meal that serve 70 to 80 guests at no charge. The Friday Community Dinner program takes a vacation during the summer.
In the spring 1994, volunteers at Grace started a dinner program in which everyone was welcomed. Originally, the dinners were served once a month. Within a few years, Westminster Presbyterian joined Grace and meals were served every Friday evening.
In a given year, the Friday Feast serves approximately 3,000 meals to low-income single people, families, older retired folks, the homeless, and anyone else who wanted to enjoy all a freshly cooked, wholesome food and the pleasure of being waited on.
In 2013, Miriam Thielman and Richard I. Smith created the short film “Soul Food”, a short documentary, about this weekly dinner.
