Music at Grace / Grace Coventry Choir

Grace Coventry Choir of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church is the adult choir of the parish. Choir members are a diverse group of dedicated people: educators, librarians, computer specialists, homemakers, retirees, and others – some with musical training and some with none. What we have in common is a love of music and the desire to praise God. The motto of J.S. Bach: “To God alone be the glory” is the foundation of the choir; in all that we do, in all that we sing, our intent is to glorify God.

Being in the choir is a commitment of both time and effort. We become acquainted with some of the great sacred music of all ages. Every year we learn about music theory and the background of the rich history of sacred music through singing hymns and anthems.

In addition to providing the musical leadership for the congregation at the 10:00 Choral Eucharist, the Grace choir sings at the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, at services during Holy Week including the Great Vigil of Easter and Easter Day morning, and occasional Evensong services.

Rehearsals are on Sunday morning from 8:45am – 9:40am, and we sing at the 10:00am service on Sunday mornings. The choir has lunches, brunches and parties through the year, and the social activities are very enjoyable and should not be missed!

The adult choir is open to all persons – 7th grade and older. The ability to read music is helpful. We welcome newcomers and persons of all ages.

If interested – please contact Susan Jensen, Organist-Choir Director and/ or any Coventry Choir member.
