If you serve at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in any capacity, you must complete the online SafeChurch training. SafeChurch training is required by the diocese every three years.
All clergy, staff, vestry members, educators who teach Church School, all Paid staff 16 years older, and all lay volunteers who work with children are requested to take this training.
All paid staff 16 years and older
· All unpaid lay leadership (wardens, vestry/BAC members, treasurers, members of other boards)
· The following ministers licensed under Canon III.4: Pastoral Leaders, Worship Leaders, Lay Preachers, Eucharistic Ministers, Eucharistic Visitors, and Catechists
· All lay volunteers, 16 years and older, who work with children and youth
· Other person who have pastoral relationships (Stephen ministers, spiritual directors, counselors, peer mentors, life coaches, etc.)
You need to register on the diocesan website https://ecwo.org/safe-church/
They will send you an email to set up your personal account with Praesidium, the online learning platform. Once you have your Praesidium account, there are NINE modules you need to complete. They are:
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Organizational Rules & Policies (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Pastoral Relationships (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Inclusion (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Introduction & Theological Background (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Healthy Boundaries (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Abuse & Neglect (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Bullying (ENG)
- Safe Church, Safe Communities: Power and Relationships (ENG)
- Policies: Episcopal Diocese of Oregon (ENG)
You will receive an emailed certificate of completion for each module, and you can see on your personal Praesidium account which modules you have already finished. You do not need to complete all modules at one time; it takes about 4-5 hours in total but can easily be done a few at a time.
We will post and regularly update a list of everyone who has completed all the required modules.
